Rain or Shine showed resilience by crawling back from a 21-point hole early behind a solid second-half offensive to flatten Japan's under-22 squad, 116-91 in their 2023 William Jones Cup at the Taipei Heping Gymnasium on Saturday, Aug. 19.

Down 21-42 in the first period, Leonard Santillan spearheaded Rain or Shine's gutsy second half run, built around his perfect 8-of-8 shooting from the floor en route to finishing with 20 points.Naturalized big man Ange Kouame, on loan to Rain or Shine, fired 18 points while import Nick Evans added 17 as the two bigs collaborated to dominate the paint in helping the team improve to 2-5 overall.

Guard Andrei Caracut flirted with a double-double after finishing with 12 points and nine assists while Anton Asistio added 11.Anthony Sukegawa led the Japanese with 22 points, but only had five in the second hLf, after opening the first two periods with 17. Hiyuu Ozawa added 19 points for Japan.Rain or Shine tries to end its Jones Cup campaign on a winning note when it faces UC Irvine on Sunday, Aug. 20.
