At least seven people were killed and more than 700 injured in Taiwan after a major earthquake struck the east. Several buildings were damaged and tsunami warnings were issued.

At least seven people were killed and more than 700 injured on April 3 by a powerful earthquake in Taiwan that damaged dozens of buildings and prompted tsunami warnings that extended to Japan and the Philippines before being lifted.

In a post on X yesterday, DMW officer-in-charge Hans Leo Cacdac said the fourth OFW, a female, sustained head injuries due to falling debris.Earlier reports said three OFWs were injured during the earthquake. The DMW said there were no recorded fatalities or major injuries among Filipinos in Taiwan. It added that the Philippine migrant workers offices in Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung cities continue to monitor the situation.
