Parts of Luzon and Visayas may continue to experience rains until the weekend due to rain-inducing weather systems that will continue to prevail over the country.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration , tropical depression “Nimfa” has barely moved and was estimated at 685 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes before Wednesday noon.Meanwhile, the shallow low pressure area west of Luzon was spotted in the vicinity of Mayantoc, Tarlac on Wednesday noon. This weather system will likely merge with the trough or advancing clouds of Nimfa within 48 hours.

Frequent light to moderate with occasional heavy rains will still prevail over Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Romblon, northern portion of Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo Islands, Aklan, Antique, Iloilo and Guimaras. Sea travel also remains risky, especially for small sea crafts, over the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon due to potentially rough to very rough sea conditions triggered by the cyclone and habagat.De la Cruz said Nimfa has a minimal chance of making landfall over any part of the Philippines but may continue to boost the effects of habagat until the weekend. Light to moderate rains may possibly persist across Luzon until weekend.
