Duterte paid his last respects to Pimentel, founder of PDP-Laban party, and extended his condolences to his family. He is currently the chairman of the ruling party.The President earlier decided to cut short his visit to Japan after complaining of “unbearable pain” from a recent motorcycle accident.
Duterte attended the enthronement of Emperor Naruhito of Japan but skipped the banquet Tuesday evening. His daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio represented the President at the event instead.The Palace has allayed concerns about the President’s health.
