Operatives of Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested 198 suspected drug users, following raids at graveyards and nightclubs in the state. Spokesperson for the agency in Kano, Sadiq Mohammad Maigatari, who confirmed this in a statement yesterday, said 61 of the suspects, including 15 females, were arrested at a popular night club in the city where illicit substances were freely sold. He said the arrests were carried out during ‘operation Hana Maye’, recently launched by the state commander, Abubakar Idris, to combat rising cases of drug abuse and trafficking in the city. Maigatari said during the course of the operation, the command dislodged 21 drug joints, which serve as hubs for drug trafficking and consumption, posing a threat to the safety and well-being of the community.
