Chan Foong Hin dan Phoong Jin Zhe berkata, walaupun mereka menghormati niat baik gabenor Sabah serta kerajaan negeri, mereka turut menyedari ini tidak boleh dijadikan alasan untuk menjejaskan prinsip dan dasar DAP. Kedua-duanya berkata, mereka menerima teguran keras daripada Jawatankuasa Eksekutif Pusat DAP dan sedia menerima bimbingan serta nasihat parti dengan rendah hati.
Chan ialah Ahli Parlimen Kota Kinabalu dan ahli Jawatankuasa DAP Sabah, manakala Phoong merupakan setiausaha DAP Sabah dan Adun Luyang.
