Transport Ministry wants airlines to overhaul flight operations

Minister of Transport Anthony Loke says extra flights provided for people to get home to East Malaysia for Chinese New Year will also be provided for Hari Raya. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, January 20, 2023.

THE Ministry of Transport wants airlines to shake up their operations to avoid delays, Minister Anthony Loke said yesterday.“I do know about the public’s complaints regarding delays, which is due to various factors such as technical problems, weather and so on. “Yet, I have asked the airlines to focus on operations as we hope improvements can reduce delays,” he said at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, last night.

AirAsia previously announced 52 additional flights at fixed low fares to six destinations in Sabah and Sarawak from January 17 to 30 in conjunction with Chinese New Year. “We want to give an opportunity to Malaysians who work in the peninsula to come home to celebrate the festivity in Sabah and Sarawak, not only for Chinese New Year but during the Hari Raya season later,” he said, adding that the positive response shown by the public proved the benefits of the initiative. – Bernama, January 20, 2023.
