PETALING JAYA: Sultan Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar dipilih sebagai Yang di-Pertuan Agong seterusnya. Menurut Penyimpan Mohor Besar Raja-Raja, Majlis Raja-Raja dalam mesyuarat khas hari ini bersetuju memilih Sultan Ibrahim menjadi Agong ke-17. Baginda akan menggantikan Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah dari Pahang, yang penggalnya akan tamat pada 30 Jan tahun depan.Sultan Ibrahim mempengerusikan Mesyuarat Majlis Raja-Raja ke-262 di Istana Negara yang berlangsung sejak Rabu.
Bersama Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris, Sultan Ibrahim mempunyai enam anak iaitu Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail; Tunku Tun Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah; Tunku Idris; Tunku Abdul Rahman; Tunku Abu Bakar; dan Tunku Abdul Jalil, yang mangkat pada 2015.
