NSTnation “The last time the brother met the deceased was two weeks ago, to send the latter’s food supply.'

District police chief Datuk Azmir Abd Razak said the brother of Fung Kim Soo, 65, lodged a police report yesterday upon finding that the 75-year-old was dead.“Upon arriving at the deceased’s house, he kept on calling his elder brother’s name, but no one answered. There was also a stench at that time,” he said in a statement, adding that Kim Soo went in and found the body.

Azmir added that the brothers’ houses are located just 50 metres apart, but the victim’s house could not be seen as it is covered by big trees in the forest. Investigations showed that the deceased, Phong Yet Ming, was suffering from mental illness, but he never received any treatment. He had also been living alone for more than 30 years.“No conversation took place between them ,” he said.

Besides Yet Ming’s remains, all relevant evidence at the scene was brought to the district hospital to be analysed.
