BUTTERWORTH: Six men aged between 30 and 45 have been arrested on suspicion of smuggling drugs into the country.

North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor said police also seized drugs including heroin, syabu and marijuana worth RM6,387 from them.

He said the North Seberang Prai Narcotics Crime Investigation Department arrested two men at a house in the Kepala Batas area at around 11am on Monday .“Following that, a house in Permatang Tok Brain in Penaga was raided at around 11.30am and police found drugs worth RM6,000.“They all tested positive for drugs, ” he said in a statement on Tuesday .

ACP Noorzainy added that the suspects would be remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code and the case was being investigated under multiple sections of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. “The police, especially the Penang NCID, will continue to increase its efforts in gathering intelligence to bust drug trafficking syndicates, ” he said.
