PUTRAJAYA: Police have arrested 486 individuals for various standard operating procedure (SOP) violations on Thursday (May 6).

Among the offences committed were failure to register details when entering premises , activities at entertainment centres , not wearing face masks , no physical distancing and other offences .On Ops Benteng, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said enforcement authorities nabbed 21 illegal immigrants on Thursday and seized 10 land vehicles.

"Authorities also sighted the presence of 161 vessels in Malaysian waters during 10 sighting activities carried out on May 6," he said on Friday . Ismail Sabri also said that 140 foreign workers were screened for Covid-19 on Thursday, with one individual testing positive. According to the Human Resources Ministry's record, 692,708 foreign workers had been screened involving 35,824 employers.Ismail Sabri said that 768 individuals had returned to Malaysia on Thursday, and all were sent to undergo quarantine at government- designated stations.

Since July 24 last year, a total of 197,639 individuals had returned to the country and were quarantined at 78 hotels and nine training institutes.
