Peter Casey is to undergo surgery this week after breaking his ankle in Limerick’s win over Tipperary.
The ace attacker has been particularly unfortunate with injury in the past having ruptured a cruciate knee ligament during the 2021 All-Ireland final win over Cork, eventually making his return in the latter stages of the following year’s campaign as Limerick completed the three-in-a-row.His brother, Mike, also had a bad run with knee injuries across 2020 and ‘21 and is currently out with a hamstring injury picked up in Limerick’s Munster Championship win over Clare earlier this month.
A Limerick statement read: “Following a scan we can confirm that Peter suffered a broken ankle which will require surgery in the coming days.
