Two Conservative riding associations in the Greater Toronto Area are crying foul over senior party executives’ “interference” in the nominations, but the party headquarters is dismissing the charge, saying it's following all the rules. Within the last two weeks, the riding associations of Eglinton-Lawrence and Wellington-Halton Hills have raised concerns over the party executive's questionable tactics in nominating their hand-picked candidates without a proper nomination election.

'In the Electoral District of Eglinton Lawrence , the Political Operations Department conducted a Candidate Nomination in direct accordance with the Conservative Party of Canada Rules and Procedures for Candidate Nominations, 'The Rules,' as adopted and amended, by the National Council of the Conservative Party of Canada.
