Police scuffle with some of the protesters defying a ban on assembling.

The Associated PressPolice officers stand guard in Amsterdam on Sunday as opponents of COVID-19 restrictions imposed in the Netherlands stage a protest, despite a ban on the demonstration. There was a heavy police presence as people marched through streets and gathered in the square, which is bordered by museums.

The demonstration came on the same day Dutch police said they would take action to protest the increasing demands of their work. Union representatives have said riot police would continue to work, if necessary. COVID-19 infection rates have been gradually decreasing for weeks in the Netherlands, which reintroduced lockdown measures late last year andThe municipality had designated the Museumplein area as a security risk region, giving police the authority to frisk people preventatively.

The seven-day rolling average of new daily cases of COVID-19 in the Netherlands edged slightly lower over the past week to 85.55 new cases per 100,000 people, even as the Omicron mutation became the nation's dominant variant. Under the lockdown, all non-essential shops are closed, along with bars, restaurants and venues such as museums, theatres and cinemas.

They should save that energy for the ventilator.

Patriots!!!!!

Hhmmm. They look oddly familiar. I wonder why they are too scared to show their faces.

Lol “scuffle” 🙄

Just here for the comments from the pro disease crowd. Carry on.

Good. Lockdowns don’t work complete joke

Wish the lazy police would have had a 'scuffle' with the protestors that took over Moncton city hall a few weeks ago instead of giving them the space they demanded. We won't end the pandemic by letting the uneducated roam free.

Nice scuffle...

“Scuffle”? Wtf! They were assaulting them!!

The hospitalization rate is down, partly because of the restrictions. The Dutch government ignores protestors every time, and continues doing the right thing.

I hope Francois Legault is watching this and heeding the warning!

Time to raise up.
