More fulsome figures will be available on Tuesday, following the holiday. The figures released Saturday are from Friday. The latest case count sets yet another daily high since the pandemic started — up from 16,713 reported on New Year's Eve. However, Public Health Ontario warns that number is also likely "an underestimate of the true number of individuals with COVID-19."
The agency says that's because of testing eligibility changes made in an effort to adjust to the fast-moving Omicron variant.

Yikes. The true number is probably 10X that bc it's nearly impossible to get a PCR test right now. It's a massive petri dish out there, folks. Staying home except for essential needs and wearing N95 masks and keeping our distance from others when we do have to venture out.
So this means the actual % of hospitalizations is lower than you’re reporting?
Also doesn’t include the people who have mild symptoms who are sick and tired of this, having some chicken noodle soup, enjoying some Netflix and getting rest like we normally would without panicking and racing to line up for tests. We’ll be ok. We’ll call if we need you.
If case counts are five times reported then we should feel really good about the ICU and death numbers, come on people use your brains it’s embarrassing how dumb the media is…..
At least the governments of Ontario and Quebec are brave enough to post the numbers unlike the cowardly Alberta UCP that always takes “a much needed break” when the numbers start a dramatic climb.
People with disabilities have just been put in indefinite lockdown. Those of us who receive home care face difficult decisions with no testing. Nurse and PSW go to several houses. They don't know who else is in the house. Now they won't know if they were exposed

With Omicron, case numbers don't matter anymore. The most important stat is ICU numbers, which are stable. Why are we protecting those who choose not to get vaxxed?
They use not being able to test now as a way to 'underestimate' the case load. Driving more fear into a dangerous variant. Wait I thought the vaccine was supposed to reduce transmission which is why they created segregation? Time to change where the goal posts go again

If only everyone that wanted or needed a test could actually get one. This is an artificial number limited by testing availability.
