An Australian start-up that allows record producers to license their signature sounds has taken off for Unified Music founder Jaddan Comerford.

“We’ve created an entirely new income stream for record producers and engineers,” Mr Truelove said, from his Nashville base.Mr Comerford, the influential manager of singer-songwriter Vance Joy and rock band Ocean Alley, invested $100,000 for a 48 per cent stake in the business shortly after Mr Truelove started it in 2016.

Mr Truelove added that STL Tones, which now employs 10 developers and marketers worldwide, had been profitable since the night he inadvertently started it.After an album production assignment fell through, he killed time by programming the pre-settings of his own guitar tones into a so-called “Kemper pack”, installable on the digital amplifiers of the same name. He awoke to find he had made $US3000 in sales.

One of those problems is that global revenue from recorded music, despite rising 9 per cent to $US26.2 billion in 2022, according to the, is still more than one-third down from its inflation-adjusted peak above $US41 billion in 1999.
