A young mum has told of the harrowing moment she woke to find her toddler gasping for air in the middle of the night when he became entangled in a chunk of her long hair as they slept. Madi, from Melbourne, shared distressing pictures showing a deep strangulation mark around 22-month-old Isaac’s throat after her locks accidentally wrapped around him — leaving him struggling to breathe.
“His neck had a deep strangulation mark from my hair and he had petechiae all over his face and neck. “They said that this was a near-death experience and that we are very, very lucky he is still here with us.” ‘Still traumatised’ By speaking out, Madi says she wants other parents to learn from the couple’s terrifying experience. “I just want to share our story to spread awareness and stop anyone going through the same trauma we have been through,” she says.
