A man who clung to the bonnet of a stolen car on the Gold Coast has escaped with minor injuries. 7NEWS

It’s alleged the Mudgeeraba man stole a 2015 purple Honda CRV from an address in his suburb about 2.45pm.Less than an hour later, he then crashed it into another car being driving by a 43-year-old Mudgeeraba man on Mudgeeraba Road.

The older man got out of his car to confront the teenager, who reversed the Honda “before allegedly driving it into the man at speed”, according to police.The man ended up on the bonnet and he clung on. The younger man allegedly then took him for a ride “at high speeds” along Mudgeeraba Road into Hinkler Drive, police said.

The man’s ordeal ended when he was “able to negotiate his release” with the driver, according to police.The Honda was found later by police dumped on a street in Highland Park. A man has clung to the bonnet of a stolen car allegedly being driven by a teenager on the Gold Coast.Police continued their patrols before officers noticed “alleged suspicious activity” by the driver of a black 2008 BMW X5 wagon.In the boot, under blankets, they found the 18-year-old who they later determined was the driver of the stolen Honda.Police have charged the young man with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle among other charges.
