Having scored his first Test century in almost three years, David Warner says the innings holds great significance after he faced scrutiny about his form in the lead-up to the Boxing Day clash at the MCG.

"I think that one was very special," he told ABC Sport.

David Warner retired, hurt, on day two before returning to the crease later in Australia's first innings. "I think, when I'm looking to score square of the wicket, I'm in a much better defensive mindset," he said. There has been media speculation about whether Warner will retire from Test cricket inside the next 12 months, given the taxing nature of playing all three formats of the game.

He sure did it the hard way. Stubborn little bugger and it's not the first time he's had to put in a big (see i told you so) display to stay in the team. Indian conditions will be worse..then England at home? He's 36, has the perfect lifestyle going on..give someone else a go

Still a cheat.

What a 🔔🔚

So the cheater is proud of cheating?

Dropped 3 catches, took 3 years to score a ton. What does that tell you?

There’s never been a better celebration in cricket history 😉 It’s all about ‘Davey’. (What a creepy little bloke. )

Has there ever been a more obnoxious Australian sportsman who hides behind his wife and kids whenever there's heat on him?

Let's hope ACB and everyone move on now...

And proud of cheating a few years ago also?

With Warner, it's all about himself. Not anyone else or the team. Australia's Novak Jokovich.

Testing my creativity every day.

Well done on the double ton. Still a fcuking cheat though

What should he be for pulling a leg muscle while celebrating and having to go off?

The eighth and ninth dwarf: smugsy and sooky
