Britain's Prime Minister Boris Johnson says it was 'inevitable' that a second wave would hit his country, as restrictions are reinforced.

Britain is seeing a second wave of the coronavirus outbreak, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Friday, as millions more people faced new restrictions and the government warned that another national lockdown could be imminent.

His gloomy announcement came as government scientific advisors said the R number, representing the number of people an infected person will pass the virus to, has risen to between 1.1 and 1.4, up from 1.0 to 1.2 last week. Food and drink venues will only be allowed to serve at tables, while pubs and bars will be shut early at 10:00 pm .

He also warned the government could re-impose the nationwide lockdown which was partially lifted in June, as the rates of hospital admissions were now doubling every eight days. Numbers of new cases are reaching levels not seen since April, reflecting a similar picture across Europe, where the World Health Organization said there were"alarming rates of transmission".

Public Health England medical director Yvonne Doyle said there were"clear signs" of a spread of the virus across all age groups, and a rise in hospital admissions of older people.Prime Minister Boris Johnson bumps elbows with scientists as he visits the construction site of the new vaccines Manufacturing and Innovation Centre.

davidagoodland There's a serial killer on the lose and it is the Tory Government and their murder by numbers Cummings policy.

Inevitable only because of Boris the Buffoon’s failure to manage the pandemic.

Just an excuse to lock everyone down and control their lives. Deaths have dropped to almost none so there is no good reason to do this. BorisJohnson is a traitor, this is NOT what Britain voted for.

Suggest you look up the BBC tv news item during March that showed a government plan for four, yes four, waves.

there was an exemption from quarantine given to the french ... illogical

That's because he kept UK's borders open whilst UK was under the first lockdown & infected people flew in from EU. Also, illegal trespassers are using boats to cross the channel and some of them may be infected.

Really? Because I'm not seeing it anywhere.
