The New York Times reports Donald Trump's companies lost so much money between 1985 and 1994 that the now-US President avoided paying income tax for eight years.

The US President's businesses lost more than $US1 billion from 1985 to 1994, according to an investigation by The New York Times.Mr Trump lost so much money he avoided paying income tax for eight years, according to the report

New York Times reporters did not have access to the President's tax returns, which he has declined to releaseThe newspaper, which relied on printouts from Donald Trump's official Internal Revenue Service tax transcripts for its report, said Mr Trump posted losses in excess of $250 million in both 1990 and 1991, which appeared to be more than double any other individual US taxpayer in an annual IRS sampling of high-income earners.

Mr Trump lost so much money he was able to avoid paying income tax for eight of the 10 years, according to the report. Over the 10 years, Mr Trump's core businesses, including casinos, hotels and apartment buildings, lost $1.17 billion. The New York Times quoted a lawyer for the President, Charles Harder, as saying the tax information was"highly inaccurate".

"IRS transcripts, particularly before the days of electronic filing, are notoriously inaccurate," he said.

Well shit, you guys are completely up to date now with things that happened 3 decades ago

biggest issues in US like most countries is economy, healthcare and sovereignty. to recover from such loses is amazing and not a rare story for self made billionaires

Nice something that happened 25 Years+ ago...did you ever think the reason he lost that money cause of the Stock Market Crash in the late 80s & 90s. aka Black Monday '87, Friday the 13th mini-crash '89, Early 1990s recession due to Iraq invading Kuwait.. Journalism not Activism

Lol has just entered the 1990s. You’ve got a long way to catch up. bias selltheABC

Awaiting Trump’s next bestseller: ‘The Art of Turning an Inheritance of a Coupla-hundred Million Dollars into a Billion Dollar Loss’ He just needs to find someone to write it.

And the decade was 1985 to 1994. How much did he make the following decade? How is any of this relevant today? ItaButtrose

Not really news, we knew he was a con man and not a business man but some voted for him anyway. Con man better than a black man or a woman to some

So?

I had a week without hearing this nobheads' name. I was wondering while I was feeling better.

I'd quite happily chip into help find $1 billion to lose Trump. A bargain at twice the price, especially if he happened to get lost at the bottom of the sea....
