Was that part of the deal with the US to take our Manus/Nauru asylum seekers? ...troubling... and some wonder why we want to emphasise that we retain the right to say no.

'I’ve become very isolated': the aftermath of near-doomed QF72Faced with a mid-flight computer failure, a captain had only seconds to steer his plane to safety. It took much longer to work through the mental fallout. The problem is the modern so-called airline pilot, surrounded by technology, finds difficult to understand, has ended up like a cockpit manager. Lost the art of flying with just an AH, AS, DG, ALT. TACHO. Too much reliance on technology not enough of his own skills. I have seen too many Aircraft Crash Investigations episodes to want to fly anymore in airliners. I am now a student pilot in RAA, my training aircraft has all “steam” gauges. Will never fly with glass cockpit. I am the pilot and the buck stops with me, not a heap of computers.
