Gavin Howie, an NT farmer who lost both of his legs in a farm accident, was this weekend gifted more than $30,000 to go towards fitting him with new, world-class protheses.

It has been the toughest year of Gavin Howie's life, but with a glimmer of hope on the horizon, he still manages to crack a grin.Gavin Howie has been the beneficiary of $30,000, which he said would go towards his prosthetic limbs

Mr Howie, 36, was named the 2019 beneficiary of the funds raised at the Fred's Pass Rural Show's annual auction.The husband and father of two boys, who owns a turf farm near Darwin, was run over by an industrial grass slasher and lost both of his legs in the machinery accident on January 12, 2019. Family, friends and the wider rural community have rallied around Mr Howie to help him prepare for the next chapter.At Fred's Pass,"Let's Get Legless" fishing shirts and other items were auctioned off to raise additional funds for his medical bills.
