National Farmers' Federation CEO Tony Mahar says the farming industry fears Labor’s commitment to phase out live sheep exports could trickle over to other animals, calling instead to maintain the trade ‘in a sustainable way’. Mr Mahar has told Sky News that exporting sheep is a ‘viable trade’, but Australia should ‘commit to better regulation and reduction in animal welfare incidents.
