It is alleged the former Liberal staffer had unprotected sex with a woman in Toowoomba without her consent in October 2021.
After the non-publication order was lifted last week, Ms Higgins took to social media where she shared comments in support of complainant in the Toowoomba trial. On Wednesday, Mr Lehrmann released a statement claiming the suppression order his legal team fought to keep in place would have"ensured the subsequent prejudicial and often inaccurate reporting would not have occurred."
Mr Lehrmann has also launched legal action against veteran journalist Lisa Wilkinson and Network 10 over an interview with Ms Higgins in 2021.
