Bruce Lehrmann,Rape Case,Court

Bruce Lehrmann, a former federal Liberal party staffer, had his rape case mentioned in court for the first time since his identity became public. He was charged over an alleged incident with a woman he met in a nightclub, weeks after facing unrelated allegations of raping Brittany Higgins in Parliament House.

Bruce Lehrmann , who was last week revealed as the high-profile man charged with the rape of a woman west of Brisbane, has had his case mentioned in court for the first time since his identity became public.

In the Toowoomba case, the 28-year-old’s legal team had been fighting for months to keep his identity secret, despite new Queensland laws coming into effect on October 3 that would allow people accused of sexual assault-related offences to be named before they were committed to trial.Lehrmann had declared his innocence in both the Canberra and Toowoomba cases.
