The former prime minister has been picked to be Britain's joint president of the Board of Trade. 9News

Last year Mr Abbott said Britain should not worry about a no-deal exit from the European Union.

"Let me reassure anyone in Britain, anxious about the prospect of no deal, that Australia does one hundred billion dollars' worth of trade with the EU every single year, on this very basis," he said. The UK government is eager to finalise trade deals with major markets for when it finally cuts ties to the European Union in the months ahead.
