The ANU's Professor John Blaxland says the issues of today are "much more linked to the issue of contestation" and it's hard to tease out economics from strategy at the moment.

"We're seeing that manifest in Australia particularly with the sanctions, the trade sanctions that are clearly not about trade but are about punishment and exertion of Chinese power," he said.

How UK food standards differ from ours, and why British farmers are nervous about a trade dealDifferences in food and agriculture standards between the United Kingdom and Australia have emerged as issues for British farmers, as the two nations get closer to a trade deal. If only the British could be part of some sort of union where the same standards could be applied more widely, making trade easier between the countries within it. The Australian government allows the use of chemicals that the EU has banned. Chemicals proven to make people sick. Impacting millions of people. But our journalists are too preoccupied on bs issues about defamation, and other privileged issues. Pretty sure the UK would rather declare Terra Nullius and take it all for free as they did from us Australian Natives for centuries despite the British not being deaf, dumb, and blind 250 years ago!

Whatever happens in the Indo-Pacific, 'it can't be Australia alone' | Sky News AustraliaAustralian Strategic Policy Institute's Peter Jennings says whatever is going to happen in terms of security in the Indo-Pacific, 'it can't be Australia alone'. \n\n'This is only something we will only be able to deal with if we have the United States here in significant numbers if we're working very closely with Japan, and hopefully India,' he said.\n\n'Australia alone, with six subs or twelve subs, we're not going to be a match for the power that is being assembled in the People's Liberation Army Navy and that's frankly just a reality of the power between various countries.\n\n'I knew from the minute Malcolm Turnbull announced the preferred design of the ships a few years ago we were going to have to upgrade the Collins class and that those submarines would actually be the pointy end of the deterrence spear for at least the next 10-15 years.'\n\n It is far past time that we started standing on our own two feet and stop relying on the Americans so much for our weapons of defence. Necessity is the mother of invention. Only problem in our region is unwanted presence of Americans they are not wanted nor welcome here nor are they welcome on our soil AMERICANS are rasist war mongering sons of bitches who will use us and then abandon us as they do all their allies once they are no longer useful

‘Bureaucratic red tape’ slowing down vaccine rollout: Pharmacy Guild of Australia | Sky News AustraliaPharmacy Guild of Australia President Trent Twomey says “bureaucratic red tape” is slowing down the vaccine rollout as pharmacies continue pleading with governments to allow them to administer vaccines.\n\nWhile 49 pharmacies in rural and regional Queensland are already delivering jabs, pharmacists in New South Wales, Victoria, and Western Australia are still waiting to be given the green light despite many applying to join the rollout in February.\n\nAccording to Mr Twomey, the reason why pharmacists were not involved in phase 2A of the vaccine rollout is simply because of “bureaucratic red tape”.\n\n“We had the national strategy approved… all the way back in January; National Cabinet endorsed it again in April,” he told Sky News host Peta Credlin.\n\nDespite a “legitimate delay” in terms of vaccine supply, there is now “everything but excuses” as to why pharmacies are not aiding the rollout effort.\n\n“We should be leading the pack in our vaccination rates,” Mr Twomey said.\n\n“It’s just not good enough.”\n\n Red TAPE 🤣🤣🤣 The Red Ribbon around the gift wrapped contracts for mates & donors 🤔 Here, have some $$$, just pretend you’re vaccinating something… JUST IN - CDC to hold an 'emergency meeting' on rare but 'higher-than-expected' reports of heart inflammation following jabs of the mRNA-based Pfizer and Moderna COVID19 vaccines (CNBC) disclosetv The obssession of zero covid and locked international borders will result in such inefficiencies

Japan shows it’s a ‘strong ally’ of Australia by supporting pushback against China | Sky News AustraliaSky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood says Japan is showing it is a “strong ally” of Australia by supporting pushback against China, particularly for it’s bans on Australian goods. \n\nPrime Minister Scott Morrison has always said China’s bans on Australian goods should be adjudicated within the World Trade Organisation and will have the chance to make his case at the G7 summit, according to Mr Greenwood. \n\n“He’s certainly assisted and aided in this by not only the United States … but also by Japan, again giving assistance to Australia and saying … there’s got to be pushback against China, against its taking over of islands and parts of the South China Sea,” he said. \n\n“But also, when it comes to dealing with trade with Australia. \n\n“Japan, by doing this, clearly again is showing itself to be a strong ally of Australia right now and this is key if Australia is to get itself back on track with China … in terms of trade”. \n Ross_Greenwood More MurdochGutterMedia crap! 💩 Ross_Greenwood Did Biden know he was in the video conference? China criticism proves Australia and Japan are a 'united front' | Sky News AustraliaWest Australian Political Journalist Sarah Ison says Australia and Japan’s joint statement in opposition to China’s coercive behaviour presents a “united front” ahead of the G7 summit. \n\nThe joint statement - which comes after two hours of virtual meetings between Australia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Marise Payne, Defence Minister Peter Dutton and their Japanese counterparts - labelled China’s economic behaviour as undermining “the rules-based international system”.\n\nMs Ison says the declaration was “a really pointed statement” against Beijing.\n\n“It was very much the two countries coming together and presenting something of a united front in this statement and it no doubt has already gained criticism from China,” she told Sky News.\n\n“We’ve had a lot of comments and the confirmation that the geo-strategic competition that we’re facing right now will be discussed and that’s code for China’s rise and the competition particularly with the United States.\n\n“Last year Australia had a really tough year with China … and the world was really watching on with apprehension and a lot of worry about what is being deemed as economic coercion, so I think those discussions about where to from here will be had and will be had on the side-lines of the G7.”\n 😂😂😂Your leaders are chosen by American.
