This is how coronavirus tore through our workplaces, schools, hospitals and nursing homes in spite of lockdowns, testing and quarantine.

The tragedy was not unforeseeable. Nursing homes are"an incubator for outbreaks", Professor MacIntyre says.

Doherty Institute's Professor McVernon said the tragedy that had played out in nursing homes reflected"something about our society … and what we invest in aged care". Professor MacIntyre warns that Australia's"stubborn refusal" to recognise the role of airborne transmission in the spread of coronavirus is"absolutely a flashpoint".

Recognising the role of airborne transmission would allow Australia to address two critical weaknesses that continue to threaten health and safety, she says. The first is respiratory protection, particularly for workers in quarantine settings, and the second is ventilation, which is especially problematic in high-rise buildings.

"If the public doesn't go along with the advice, if they don't present for testing, if they don't change their behaviours, if they don't participate ... you can't go anywhere." "The only thing I'd had before [COVID-19] was low blood pressure … Even now my chest is not the same," she says.

Back in the Paris climate club, US vows to ‘work overtime’ to catch upThe United States has officially rejoined the Paris climate agreement, reinvigorating the global fight against climate change as the Biden administration plans drastic emissions cuts over the next three decades Sanity at last. The TRUMP non-era (make America stupid again!) is now over! Hallelujah! Sounds great, in theory, but even the French admitted they aren't following the Paris climate agreement. The big picture is that without getting China and India under control it doesn't make a big difference. Great news, good call. But probably only points to tech barons having more sway than oil barons

‘All will be revealed’ over viral brawl, lawyer saysThe lawyer for one of three men charged with assaulting teenage girls in a shocking Sydney brawl has declared that a viral video of the incident “speaks for itself”, but there may be more to it that was not captured on film. Tell me again how assaulting vulnerable women is excusable? How is there more to the story?! No matter what the incident, when is it right to hit.... just walk away. Lawyers will say anything to defend a client, even bad mouthing the other party. Proof is what is needed, not perception. No one ever attacks a woman, no excuse. Be a man, walk away.
