Lawyer Adam Ly, who represents 21-year-old Hong Lee, said outside Central Local Court on Tuesday morning there would likely be an argument over what, exactly, happened on Saturday night.“The allegations may go beyond what is shown in the video, that’s what I’m saying.”
Mr Lee is facing one charge of common assault and one of affray over the fight at Pyrmont’s Pirrama Park on Saturday, while co-accused Jesse MacKenzie, 29 and William Shepley, 23, each face two counts of assault and one of affray.Hong Lee, Jesse MacKenzie and William Shepley have been charged with common assault and affray over a brawl at Pyrmont on Saturday night. Picture: InstagramPolice will allege two 16-year-old girls were repeatedly hit, kicked and shoved in the course of the brawl.
The three charged men were refused bail at Parramatta Local Court on Sunday and listed for mention again before Central Local Court on Tuesday morning. Mr Ly told Magistrate Robert Williams that he needed time to talk with his client about a video of the brawl that had been widely circulated on social media. The video, posted on Instagram, appears to show a girl hitting a man before a raucous brawl erupts.Mr Lee and Mr Shepley’s matters were adjourned to March 23 when both are expected to enter a plea and apply for bail.
“My client and I do hope that the victim makes a full recovery from what appears to be a very traumatic experience,” he said.
No one ever attacks a woman, no excuse. Be a man, walk away.
No matter what the incident, when is it right to hit.... just walk away. Lawyers will say anything to defend a client, even bad mouthing the other party. Proof is what is needed, not perception.
Tell me again how assaulting vulnerable women is excusable? How is there more to the story?!
