ANALYSIS: There's no sugar-coating the message: the JobKeeper cliff is coming

The Budget's Trump vibe

For all the billions being spent to put Australia on a path to recovery, there's a hard reality at the heart of this Budget: the Government wants the economy to adjust to the reality of living with this virus. Many won't need it after March as restrictions ease and activity picks up. But those in the tourism, hospitality, arts and conference sectors have little chance of survival, especially if a vaccine isn't widely available for another 12 months, as the Budget now assumes. The message in this Budget to those businesses and all who work in them is clear: find a way to adjust to self-sufficiency or fold.

2 minutes video no one should skip: Dr. Yan: the coronavirus was made in the lab to target human by the Chinese Communist Party!

It will be good to get this so called 'jobkeeper cliff' over and done with. Everyone knows it's just a bandaid solution atm to keep the economy chugging. So bring the inevitable on, let's see where we stand and move on from there! 💳

With tapering off job keeper, how about job creation that through major national infrastructure projects and not just talking about by the govt. The projects will have a rippling effect for businesses which the govt seems to think is the engine room of the economy.

JobSteeper?

Out at a restaurant last night and the staff said they can’t get any casuals to work 20/30 hours a week... no interest in their job postings for months and seeker keeper is the main reason... getting 25/30 an hour why would you work if you were already ok 750/1100 for doing zilch

Channeling Trump? Give me a break... 🙄

Stop scare-mongering the SHEEPLE ffs!! Recovery rate of this virus is SIMILAR to the normal flu!! Governments MUST end the paranoia End the hysteria End the MASKarade End ALL restrictions NOW!!!!!

Isnt the more relevant question this - is the social adn economic pain of lockdown in 2020 wasted if we are back at square one in 2021? COVID19Victoria auspol

Yet it motivates people back to work.. it’s a far more sensible solution. ALP love a welfare state! Families are struggling now By December job seeker will be $40 a day 1 job per 12 applicants Could a Politician live on $40 per day We are not all in this together JoshFrydenberg Still the media continues to parrot the Government's claim that tax cuts will stimulate the economy. JobKeeper ‘dampening incentives to work’ as economy reopens: Josh Frydenberg | Sky News AustraliaTreasurer Josh Frydenberg says the JobKeeper program, while necessary during the early stages of the pandemic, was now being phased out after it was discovered the welfare subsidy disincentivised employment. \n\n“As restrictions continue to ease across the country, we need to ensure that our policies are supporting and accelerating the recovery,” he said. \n\n“Our crisis response policies were the right ones to get us to this point.\n\n“In Treasury's review of the JobKeeper program in June, they found that the JobKeeper program has a number of features that created adverse incentives which may become more pronounced over time as the economy recovers,” he said. \n\nMr Frydenberg said the review indicated JobKeeper was “dampening the incentives to work, hampering labour mobility … and it keeps businesses afloat that would not be viable without ongoing support'. \n\nAs the economy reopens, the federal government will “transition away” from JobKeeper which is scheduled to end in March.\n JoshFrydenberg Who would've thought! It should be kept for those employees who are genuinely waiting to restart their positions of employment in particular aviation and associated jobs! JoshFrydenberg I have 60 billion reasons why I wouldn't be relying upon anything Josh has to say he needs to go JoshFrydenberg We at thetourismnews encountered a specific example of this - glamping co had to let someone go because employee stopped performing when friends weren't under impetus to perform. Meanwhilst quality other employees had to cover shifts etc. JoshFrydenberg
