BREAKING: Alleged Islamic State terrorist Neil Prakash has arrived in Australia to face serious terrorism charges, after he was deported by Turkish authorities. OLathouris_9 9News MORE:

Khoury said the "extraordinary" rains which have led to Sydney's wettest year on record was "putting pressure on the road network that we haven't seen before.", councils haven't been able to fix ever-worsening potholes which are scarring roads in neighbourhoods across the city.

Khoury said there are now so many potholes on Sydney's roads that councils would "all go broke" if they were held liable.Even when the incessant rains do finally break, Khoury is worried that cash-strapped councils may not have the financial muscle to fix the spiralling problem. "Some of these councils just don't have the revenue streams to be able to do the extra work that's going to be required of them," he said.

"The challenge for councils is that they need sustained periods of dry weather to get out there and fix the potholes, and they're just not getting it."
