If it feels like Christmas comes earlier every year, that’s because, for many, Santa’s sleigh swept in months ago.
“I was in Christmas nativity things as a child and I just adored the glitter and shine. It’s become even more special now, with someone who also loves it. We buy decorations all through the year, and order things from Harrods in London, which are so beautiful, and decorate everything with a different theme every year.”

That’s reflected in the way more people are now decorating their houses. “People want rituals and sometimes those rituals become the masters of their lives,” she says. “They mark that another year has gone by and some people find they enjoy ritualising it so much, they like to have the delayed gratification of starting from August.
