A woman has called for the dumping of the term 'blind spot' due to its 'ableist' connotations, instead asking people to adopt the term 'dead angle'. FridayShow

A woman known by Twitter handle @crippledscholar has called for the dumping of the term 'blind spot' due to its 'ableist' connotations, instead asking people to adopt the term 'dead angle'.

The IPA's Gideon Rozner has asked how humans are "supposed to function" if we must "second guess every word we use" including pronouns such as "he and she". "For there to be a command to control...the language we can and can't use, sometimes by law, is authoritarian," Mr Rozner said. "It will starve us of any ability to express ourselves".

Proof some women are total nut jobs. GET A LIFE LADY.

I have a problem with “Dead Angle” as it brings negative connotations on our dearly departed loved ones. Angle is also a bad choice as it brings disrepute on Mathematicians.

On behalf of all dead people that is completely “lifeist”. Remember the dead have feelings too.

Ignorance about optical anatomy. The blind spot exists in every mammalian eye. It is where the optic nerve attaches to the retina of the eye ball. Where will all this political incorrect rubbish end up?

Isn't that offensive to people that are deceasef though?

Isn’t that “live-ist”? It’s a SPOT that you can’t see properly, therefore making you BLIND to what’s there. BLIND SPOT is perfectly descriptive! How is it a “Dead Angle” there’s nothing dead, it’s not about angles.

“A woman” who needs to get a grip on reality.

Why adopt dead? How offensive to families of & disrespectful to people that have lost their lives on sections of roads with blind spots. Changing a term will not change the life of one vision challenged person. (I thought blind had already been Un-worded by the pc brigade).

GondwanaLands The world must change because of one uptight woman? Heaven help us if that’s the new normal.

Get a life woman. Ffs.

'Dead angle' is terribly offensive to the life-challenged residents of Rookwood.

How come the nut jobs get air time? Who allows this nonsense!

Anus

I see it as putting us on an equal footing as blind people.....There are too many idiots in this world......🤷🏼‍♀️

Biggest load of PC crap. She has too much time on her hands . Stop trying to mess with the English language smacks of 1984

matthewhayden Just today I was on the freeway. My tranny blew without notice. I checked my blind-spot and retarded my egress via braking. Upon disembarkation, I was immediately arrested by VictoriaPolice , despite the fact i was in Dubbo, NSW.

I’m sorry, dead angle doesn’t work for me, my uncle on my mothers side who was a trigonometry expert recently died!

Is this the woman in question ?

'Dead angle' disrespects the dead. In fact 'livist' language is everywhere. Dead end, dead spot, deadbeat, deadshit etc. Disgusting...

Fcuk me... My head hurts

Adorable.

If a blind person is driving a car, then I would imagine the “blind spot” is the least of their worries...🤡🌎

I'm not going to to use the term 'blind spot' or 'dead angle' in case I offend anyone. I'll just start changing lanes, and if someone beeps st me, it's not safe to change lane. You're all welcome.

How many blind people drive to be offended?

What about the people who are dead? What about offending them?!

Ffs.

What a deadhead this person is.

A woman.....A woman....give us a break! Any real legitimate newsworthy stories. 😂😂😂😂

All the dead will complain now. What is this world coming to. Let’s all get offended.

Using dead angle to replace the term blind spot makes no sense. The definition of blind spot is an area where a person's view is obstructed. Blind spot is the right term to use when you can't see an area because your view of it obstructed

This is clearly hate-speech targeted at the otherwise-living community.

Not sure I see where she's coming from here.

That is a trivial thing that crippledscholar complains about. Doesn't she have something better to complain about?

How about FO - WE DONT CARE 👎

A woman ? Well this is world shattering news I must say. 😂

No.

🤣🤣🤣

She doesn’t have to use it. I can say what I bloody please...

Nothing better to do than come up with this rubbish.

Stupidity is still strong amongst the snowflakes. FFS, can they find anything as petty to moan about?

Disrespectful to dead people.

word nazis at it again

Can we stand her in a blind spot and see what happens?

One woman? Who cares? Ignore her.

Dead angle? Excuse me!!

GondwanaLands A woman. Let's change the language for her...

Lunatics

Thats disrespectful to the deceased bigot

but that discriminates against deceased persons .,..

People need to look at the real issues of the world today and not their need for 5min of significance

FFS! What Next? Will the cockpit of a plane become the “genitalpit”?

But what about the dead people this offends ffs!

This is click-bait and I will ignore it.

How can someone be so stupid, the term 'blind' is used in physics and engineering.

What is this world coming to. Haven't people got anything better to worry about FFS.

Best laugh 😆 of the day...reading through all the ‘dead angle’ replies SpotOfBlindness

When does this bullshit end ? Why don’t we all just embrace sign language so that we stop this rubbish of everything offending someone...

What about the deceased?

Just because one person out of a global population of seven billion has a 'thought bubble' and documents it on the very credible platform of twitter, doesn't mean sky news has to pick it up and run with it. I suggest they employ some capable journalists.

If blind spot is offensive to the blind,,,would it not offend the dead,,I think that’s how it work these days, everyone offended about something ,, do people think that they are that precious

Surely that's offensive to someone who has lost someone

Bless

What about 'blind drunk'?

Seriously and you reported that as news 🤦‍♀️

Another l.efty

Yes, & I’ve noticed men still referring to a personhole as a ‘manhole’. And I was misgendered AGAIN the other day. These sorts of violence are spiraling out of control. What are Labor & the Greens going to do about it?...where’s Kristina?

What would I call a blind dovetail?

That's just offensive to all the Angle's out there.

This woman crippledscholar has given me a BLIND SPOT and she's banned from my feed forevermore!!! The bloody crazies have taken over the Asylum.

Oh yes, this is long overdue great idea. It will lift my driving skills immeasurably. 👏👏👏👏👏

Stop giving these people the attention they crave and politicians/society should stop caving in to their ludicrous ideas

I knew someone who died, I think they would find this offensive

Oh FFS

Pfffft

Bull dust

Get a life

I can’t see her point.

Blind spot is a physical term for the place in the human eye where the nerve enters. Suck it up. I'm old (!) deaf (!) and grumpy. And with a crook back, shot knees and a bullshit detector approaching Jedi class.

Stop giving oxygen to this bullshit.

Do you know what's worse? These three morons making an issue out of it and being paid to do so. What a vacuous trio. I suppose this is as deep as they get.

So why don’t people just tell her to sit down, shut up and get on with life?

So it’s not blind, it’s dead? So if you’re blind you’re as good as dead? Can people in windowless rooms stop making up words for their power trip...

Please, please just make it stop!! FFS!!

Ffs lady get a life and piss off and to Sky why report this rubbish.

oh for f%cks sake.

So Tone deaf

Is that all she had to winge about. Grow the hell up

It has nothing to do with”blindness” let’s all agree to ignore Muppets

It’s always a woman

wouldn't the term 'blind spot' be a descriptive statement and not one w normative implications?

Let's be offended for everything by everything

Oh get a life you stupid woman, it’s called a blind spot because you are blind in that area. So simple don’t make irrelevant a issue of this. If that is how you think maybe you should hand in your license.

FFS🤦🏻‍♂️

FFS FirstWorldProblems

Obviously. But what about Zombies being upset at being reminded of year 5 maths?

It just keeps on getting better and better.

But wont dead angle discriminate against and offend the dead !!! Seriously how stupid are some people

'Asking people to adopt dead angle: ' Yeah... naahhh.

crippledscholar more than likely hasn't consulted any blind people. I have, and they're OK with the team. She needs to go away.

Can we just stop with the nonsense

Surely this is a pisstake?

REALLY.

WTF is an ableist?

ffs

How about 'spot with a disability'

FFS I’m sick of this $hit!

YOU can say what like .A correct term is called restricted visibility . IT may come different forms and types and causes ,and a blind spot is a cause not the word dead angle .

Oh FFS

dead angle is fatalist language

Old news

She can call it whatever she likes, blindspot is a blindspot, nothing offensive about the fact that I don’t have eyes in the back of my head!

This is offensive to dead people. And angles.
