Tasmania's top health bureaucrat tests positive to COVID-19, a day after the first government minister announces he has contracted the disease.

Kathrine Morgan-Wicks, who is Tasmania's state health commander, said in a statement she had tested positive to COVID-19 on Tuesday afternoon.

"I am asymptomatic but undertook a PCR test this morning following a member of my household developing mild symptoms and being confirmed as a positive case," Ms Morgan-Wicks said. "I am currently well and will continue in my role as Secretary and State Health Commander, working in isolation from home."

No exposure concerns have been identified that would require quarantine or testing of any contacts, except for household contacts who are now in quarantine as close contacts, the statement said. The announcement comes a day after the first Tasmanian government minister tested positive to COVID-19, with Guy Barnett announcing he had mild symptoms and was isolating at home.from either the homepage or the settings menu in the app to continue getting the same national news but with a sprinkle of more relevant state stories.
