Eight construction workers from Sydney's 12 LGA hotspots have been fined after allegedly travelling to the South Coast in breach of COVID-19 restrictions.

Police allege the workers travelled from Sydney to work in a building site in Kiama - 120 kilometres from their homes.

On Tuesday morning, police attended the worksite and saw a number of employees run into a nearby carpark.
