Waverley College, in Sydney's east, has recorded a positive case of COVID-19, just one day after students across the New South Wales returned to classrooms full-time.Monday marked the first day of full-time schooling for children within the public education system across NSW after two months of remote learning.

Sydney's eastern suburbs experienced an outbreak of coronavirus earlier this year, with the local government areas of Waverley and Woollahra long considered "hot spots". The State Government created both a drive-through coronavirus testing clinic and a walk-in clinic opposite Bondi Beach, in collaboration with St Vincent's Hospital.

If school children are at low risk of contracting covid-19 and don’t need to have physical distancing in place then why are the kids having to go home? Clearly kids are at risk with the high chance of the virus spreading amongst their families. AnnastaciaMP

This is to be expected. But we have test and trace capabilities now. We didn’t before hence the lockdown. Open the country, use a strategic approach, red/green zones, like many other countries are.
