A coalition of scientists and security experts are pushing for a global agreement to save outer space from exploitation as the United States moves ahead with a plan to mine the surface of the moon.

| ANU Cosmologist Dr Brad Tucker says the reasoning behind this push for a global agreement is so “people work on even ground.

" “As we try go to the moon … we want to use the sources of minerals on the surface, but they don’t it to be a land grab and they don’t want it obviously to be militarised," Dr Tucker said. “What people are worried about, including ministers and politicians, is that at some point we may have conflicts from mine grabbing.” Image: NASA

Mining for what? It contains the same stuff the earth is made of?

I have my Land Moon Register title for on the moon - gonna tax them $10billion an ounce!

Pro CCPCHINA leftist trying to cut offthe USA to give China time to catch up Trump2020NowMoreThanEver

WTF not mine a rock nearby with no atmosphere?! So long as we dont mine away its central gravitational core then who GAF right? Is global warming or ocean rising gonna affect the freakin moon?! No... so mine crap from there rather than killing our wildlife!

If America doesn't get in first China will.

A bit effn stupid. What don’t they have on earth that they need from the moon? 🙄 I hope the aliens eat them. 👽 🛸

Actually if we want truly clean energy, much cleaner than Nuclear Fission, Mining the moon for elements essential to Nuclear Fusion is essential. Nuclear Fission waste: 120,000 years radioactive and deadly. Nuclear Fusian waste: About 30

Good luck enforcing it 😆

Pauline Hansons name is not that. Her REAL NAME is Pauline Zagorski. Hanson is her marriage name and she was divorced. Zorgoski is Croatian, Pauline isnt even a second generation Australian.. In 1978, Hanson (then Pauline Zagorski) met Mark Hanson, a tradesman on the Gold Coast

Space is big, right? Exploit away!

Dumb. They should all come together & collectively join the U.S in mining the precious minerals & helium 3 on the Moon. Helium 3 would be great for Nuclear Power.

Bunch of losers, who know they won't make it there first, having a whinge about being losers. Nothing unusual here.
