For the first time, prosecutors draw a causal link between the actions of Porsche driver Richard Pusey and the deaths of four Victoria Police officers in a crash on Melbourne's Eastern Freeway in April.

Lawyers for Richard Pusey, the man accused of filming a police officer as she lay dying on a Melbourne freeway, say he has been "seriously overcharged" and have urged a magistrate to throw out the most serious allegations against him.Prosecutors said the fatal crash occurred because Richard Pusey's car had been pulled over

In a hearing marred by technical difficulties, Magistrate Donna Bakos pushed the Crown on this point. Truck driver Mohinder Singh, and not Mr Pusey, has been charged over the deaths of the four officers. "As tragic as this case is, for all of Mr Pusey's faults, for all the criticisms can be made against this man about his conduct in the face of that terrible tragedy … it can be said that this man has been seriously overcharged," Mr Dann said. His legal team today told the court that there was not enough evidence to substantiate five of the serious allegations levelled against their client.and conduct endangering serious injury.

so? does this dude saying the police should've said to him be nicer next time and move along? 🧐

I have no opinion on the charges that should or should not be laid. Pusey, though, has shown himself to be a prize arsehole.

The victim.

If being a total arsehole was a crime .. Just saying ...

He deserves everything he gets.

Once the police pulled him over, directed him out of the car for 36 minutes, conducted drug and alcohol tests, the police are then technically in control of the vehicle.

Wait. This guys name is Dick Pusey?

Wow! What a collection of barrack room lawyers this matter has attracted. Given the words and phrases used it appears some folk watch far too much American TV.

Pusey has history of arrogant disregard for the Law. Irrespective, he filmed the Police Officer during her time of need even if saving her life was not possible Pusey could have offered comfort not let die alone. Pusey is Scum !

Did they charge him with being an arrogant arsehole?

Who's liable for the destroyed car given it was in police possession I wonder? That's going to be funny when it comes up.

Obviously a dickhead but ridiculous to say he is the cause of the deaths. It's the truck driver who has to be charged.

A great case to see what our justice system is made of! Society and the human race is better off without people like Dick Pusey......

Pusey. You will get yours....

Scumbag should accept his karma for his sub-human actions and stop offending us with his general presence..

More like under charged him!

That's what they're paid to say.

It's interesting how discussion of this incident speaks as if the drug addicted truck driver is completely absolved or even was a factor.

Of course they did. It's what pigs do.

Exactly. They went too far with abuse of power .

No charge would be adequate for that absolute failure of a human being.

When you posted it on Facebook bitch.....you lost it.

His lawyers are kidding, right?

Unfortunate last name

Budget must be based on pragmatic, centrist policiesThe Herald's View: As Australia faces a once-in-a-century economic crisis, the federal government has taken seriously its vow to respond to the COVID-19 crisis with centrist and non-ideological measures lol Debt and a sh**load of it. Thats the limit of their imagination. No government or central bank can steer away from it. Thus sowing the seed for the next crisis. Tax cuts for the rich are the very definition of 'ideological'. They increase divisions and frankly don't work if you want to stimulate spending. The rich save, the poor spend. Cut GST if you want to increase spending - that is *the* most regressive tax we have.
