From midnight on Sunday, meat processing plants — a source of Victoria's recent outbreak — will have their staffing levels cuts by up to one-third, sparking fears on panic-buying.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews is adamant his severe restrictions on staffing levels at food processing and distribution centres will not lead to national food shortages.Chicken processing will be down to 80 per cent due to its different life cycleIn recent days, the food and grocery industry has been warning of serious supply shortages in Victoria, with flow-on effects for Australia, if food distribution centres and abattoirs are forced to cut staffing levels by one-third this weekend.

Chicken processing will be down to 80 per cent staff, due to the nature of the different life cycle of poultry. Premier Daniel Andrews urged Victorians not to panic-buy supermarket meat products amid a reduction in output from abattoirs. "That'll just mean that other people, potentially, don't get the things they need. That's why the supermarkets have put a number of buying limits in place."A lot of work has gone into driving down staff levels but, at the same time, protecting the amount of product that will be on supermarket shelves. That's our aim.

"Coupled with that, you've got people panicking and regardless of what anyone says, they're not going to buy their weekly shop, they might buy a week-and-a-half or two-weeks if they can afford it, because it's there and they're frightened.Governments are facing tough questions on how this has gone so terribly wrong. Here are some clues

As long as you don't eat meat, dairy or protein.

Idiots going from store to store panic buying will cause the shortage.

Become vegan!👍👍👍

Why would we believe him? Plainly reduce the work force and you wont have the output. Restrict manufacturing in Vic, and freight will go up as no backloads out of Vic. why would a truck driver drive to Vic for 50% reduction in pay? The blokes full of shit.

Let's just shut down the Industrial Meat Indusrty. auspol

Yeah right, cause he's done so well so far.🙄

So cannibalism is starting to look good. If you eat a vegan or vegetarian do you need to add any vegies with it?

Oh, that's what Dan says is it? So can we assume then that he is once again talking bullshit?

Jim's Mowing workers are not cleared to breach health orders: Andrews | Sky News AustraliaPremier Daniel Andrews has declared Jim’s Mowing to be a non-essential service in response to the gardening business founder’s vow to keep on mowing amid Victoria’s stage four lockdown. \n\n“They are not permitted workers,” Mr Andrews said.\n\n“Unless of course they are providing emergency work. Lawns are not getting mowed, people are not getting haircuts, we are all making sacrifices. I'm not in anyway wanting to diminish the pain and challenge for that business and those workers.'\n\nPremier Andrews said if Jim’s Mowing founder Jim Penman breached health orders it would become a 'matter for Victoria Police'.\n\nMr Penman vowed to defy Victoria’s strict lockdown orders and keep his business running, telling his employees he would pay their fines if they were caught operating.\n\nMr Penman said it was unlikely however that it would come to fining as he claimed continuing to operate his business was not disobeying the law as the law itself remained unclear. \n\n“This is really tough and I take no pleasure in having to make these really difficult calls but if I don’t make this decisions we won’t drive down the number of people moving around the community and we won’t drive down the number of cases and indeed the number of people who are dying,” the Premier said. \n\n“Lawns are not getting mown, people are not getting haircuts, we are all making sacrifices.\n\nHe said the matter of responding to employees who continued to work would be left to Victoria Police. \n\n“Short of not following the advice of our experts this is the only option we have,” he said. \n Give the idiot some jail time. Oh, poo! Who still uses them? Overpriced and a terrible business model for franchisees unless they are ok with ripping people off....

Premier not gagged by hotel quarantine probe, inquiry judge saysBREAKING: The retired judge leading the inquiry into Victoria's bungled hotel quarantine program says there is nothing preventing the Premier and his ministers answering questions on the scheme now. She should be DEMANDING their answers... But still watch run and hide Focusing on that is a distraction we can do without. It’ll undermine the effort to get this contagion under control & give the RW political rabble oxygen to a trial by media. I’m happy to let it take it’s due course & of course every1 asked, must front the inquiry & answer Q’s.
