Premier Daniel Andrews has declared Jim’s Mowing to be a non-essential service in response to the gardening business founder’s vow to keep on mowing amid Victoria’s stage four lockdown.

“They are not permitted workers,” Mr Andrews said. “Unless of course they are providing emergency work. Lawns are not getting mowed, people are not getting haircuts, we are all making sacrifices. I'm not in anyway wanting to diminish the pain and challenge for that business and those workers." Premier Andrews said if Jim’s Mowing founder Jim Penman breached health orders it would become a "matter for Victoria Police".

Mr Penman said it was unlikely however that it would come to fining as he claimed continuing to operate his business was not disobeying the law as the law itself remained unclear. “This is really tough and I take no pleasure in having to make these really difficult calls but if I don’t make this decisions we won’t drive down the number of people moving around the community and we won’t drive down the number of cases and indeed the number of people who are dying,” the Premier said.

It would be cheaper if the government issued face masks to every person in Australia for 6 weeks and made it mandatory to wear them outside. That's 44 masks each at a cost of $15 x 25 million people = $375m in total costs. Problem solved

This will go well for Jim 🙄🙄 ffs do all these muppets have brain worms 🐛

Obviously JimsMowing cares only about $$$ and bugger all about the health and lives of the community or their customers FFS Just THINK Jim What message are you putting out there?

What is the difference between food delivery and someone mowing your lawn? Sack Daniel Andrews

Wonderful to see some hacks here, arguing that mowing is an essential service. Why don't you call Jim's mowing instead next time you need an ambulance. Ffs it's Victoria in winter the grass won't start growing until after lockdown

Daniel Andrews is THE most non essential thing in Victoria. Sadly so many idiots voted him and his destructive leftist party in last election so now Andrews thinks he can do anything. God help Victorians

King John III - He's coming.

🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

letthemmow

Get off the grass Jim.

yup Harvey norman, bunnings and big W are essential ..lol

superspreaders

And on top of pledging to 'pay fines' for his employees breaching restrictions... will Jims mowing ALSO cover the costs if worker falls off some steps injuring spine or chops off fingers with a mower? Because insurers & workplace safety schemes wont cover workers in that case.

Why anyone would support overpriced mowing (& other like cleaning) services that take too many profits from thier franchise owners? RATHER than supporting better priced small business who keep ALL thier own profits is totally beyond me. To lazy to Google so just '13 XYZ' right?

The irony: Victoria used to be known as the Garden State 🤭

I recently hired a plumber through them, tried to con me into thinking I'd need a new hot water system, and the ones he offered were over three grand!

Could Andrews be more of an arsehole if he tried?

Andrews Governmrnt is a non essentential Government, Victoria needs a new Government today.

No way there isn't a direct link between someone from Sky News and Jim's ugenics pills.

Daniel Andrews is a traitor... he wants Victoria to go broke so China can take over it, then he probably will retire as King he n China

Shut him down!

I'm sure if one of his workers injure themselves breaking the law to mow lawns and isn't covered by his worker's comp he will be the first to cover their loss of earnings and any medical costs off his own bat as well.

No doubt Dan’Stacker’ Andrews took this advice from his brilliant Chief Health expert who has guided Victoria into this mess. Another example of ill conceived, illogical and unnecessary lengths in this lockdown. The Covid numbers should not be the only factor in these decisions.

How much is peoples grass growing in Melb anyway during winter FFS? I've had to mow mine twice in 3 months

Breaking: Confirmed case of COVIDIDIOTS found in Sir Walters Grass, urging all Victorians to stay off the grass. Grass transmission is a thing. Who needs an economy anyway? DictatorDan CovidVic

SUPPORT JIM'S MOWING. jimsmowing

All Businesses are essential life support systems!

Jim's money can't buy everything service!

People like this who don’t follow the restrictions will spread the virus and then blame Dan Andrews

I feel extremely sorry for the franchise owners that have nothing to do with this dick head. I mean, what is he thinking?

That's not jim he's got no beard or hat.... dumass sky news

Why are all the hospital beds and ICU's and emergency wards empty? Can someone please explain that one to me? Cheers

Thanks. I will make sure I boycott Jim's Mowing etc. Thanks for sharing.

Jim’s mowing is like sky news totally useless

Who still uses them? Overpriced and a terrible business model for franchisees unless they are ok with ripping people off....

Oh, poo!

Give the idiot some jail time.

‘Each-way Albo’ criticises PM but not Premier Andrews over cancelling parliament | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Paul Murray says there was a clear double standard at play when “each-way Albo” made a political point out of the prime minister’s decision to postpone parliament, but disregarded the same decision made by Premier Daniel Andrews.\n\nBoth the federal parliament and the Victorian state chamber will not go ahead with planned sitting periods for this upcoming week.\n\nOpposition Leader Anthony Albanese criticised the prime minister claiming he was avoiding accountability by post-poning this week’s session.\n\nHowever, when asked whether Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews needs to be held to account in parliament, Mr Albanese pivoted and returned to the issue of federal parliament.\n\n“Albo was out there trying to make a political point that Scott Morrison is somehow hiding from accountability because the parliament isn’t sitting at the moment,” Mr Murray said.\n\n“Small double standard here”.\n\nImage: Getty\n DanielAndrewsMP Yes it has to be Sky news. one-eyed. Australia may have to ‘settle in for the very long haul’: Andrew Bolt | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Andrew Bolt says the devastation of more lockdowns if the virus isn’t kept at bay in Victoria would be too shocking, while forcing citizens to comply would make governments look “more like police states”.\n\nVictorian Premier Daniel Andrews on Sunday announced that his government would be placing metropolitan Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire into stage four lockdowns, whilst instituting an 8PM curfew.\n\nThe Victorian government has also revealed which services and workplaces will be forced to close down, with business shutdowns leading to the loss of an expected 250,000 workers.\n\n“There’s this desperate idea going around – this great hope – that if we just clamp down on this virus for a few months we’ll be rescued,” Mr Bolt said.\n\n“So just push on a bit longer with these bans, and it will soon be over. Except the head of the World Health Organisation last night said not quite.\n\n“A vaccine might be years away. Or the virus could keep mutating. Or immunity may last only a few months. Or work imperfectly.\n\n“We may have to settle in for the long haul. The very long haul.”\n\nImage: Getty Bolt is not an Aussie As usual, BLOT brings no solutions to the problems.
