The central bank announced on Thursday it will replace the monarch with a new design which "honours the culture and history of the First Australians". In his letter to the treasurer, Dr Lowe asked if it was the government's view whether the monarch should continue to feature on the $5 note. "Accordingly, I am seeking the Australian government's view on whether or not a portrait of King Charles lll should replace that of Queen Elizabeth ll.""Of these two options presented by the bank, the government would be comfortable with a new design that honours the culture and history of First Australians, assuming a proper process for inclusive consultation is undertaken," the letter reads.

Technically... King Charles was never dropped as he was never on the note to begin with, that was his mother.
Lowe thought the government wanted to sack him, so he gave them the indigenous option to curry favour, but it won’t save him.

Given the government has appointed a Minister Delegate for the Republic, the RBA would be fully cognisant on the governments position on the monarchy and the question and hence the Treasurers response should not come as a surprise to anyone.
I think a great five-dollar bank note, true to the Aussie character and way would be a plain white note with the word on it: 'I owe you five dollars mate.'

After Penny Wong's insult yesterday they probably don't want it on there either it doesn't even look like her!!!!! Who cares, I don't think the king does either.
