Aboriginal health groups appeal to the NT government to ease back on border reopening plans, saying the Territory's hospital system could be overwhelmed as Indigenous vaccination rates continue to lag.

She said some religious groups had brought misinformation from the United States into Indigenous communities."But they've also left people with the impression that they'll be saved by God, whereas we're trying to say, 'If you get vaccinated, it's an act of love and God wants you to practise that.'"

"That allows for the patient, or those who are considering vaccination, to ask questions on a one-to-one [basis] in a bit more of a private environment, to get the responses back so they can make an informed decision."' She said the gap in providing vaccines to the NT, as well as further delays after changing health advice regarding the AstraZeneca vaccine, allowed misinformation to fill a vacuum on social media."People are frightened of the COVID needle itself.

"I never got a needle and my family never got a needle, we're concerned about it because they never explained properly, you know," he told the ABC.
