Regional Victorian café owner Matt O’Donnell says it disappointing to hear regional residents will have to wait for Melbourne’s COVID-19 cases to catch up before restrictions are eased.

Regional Victorian café owner Matt O’Donnell says it disappointing to hear regional residents will have to wait for Melbourne’s COVID-19 cases to catch up before restrictions are eased.

It comes as regional Victoria, despite having just two active cases of COVID-19, will be required to wait another fortnight before restrictions can be eased. Mr O’Donnell, who owns Albert & Co in East Gippsland, says the news is “definitely the last thing we really want to hear”. “There’s people out and about, and they’re ready to come into our café and sit down and enjoy a meal," he said.

How sad. Obviously doing the right thing doesn’t help either. Tough times. 😔

How is this news worthy? We are all disappointed that we can't see friends, go to sport events and travel freely etc. That is the nature of fighting a pandemic. I'm sure those in regional Vic would be even more disappointed if we came in from the City and started spreading COVID.

You fuckin kidding me

The devil of the COVID19 is coming for everyone. This is a war between good and evil, but God is on our side. CCPVirus TakeDownTheCCP

I am not worried about corona virus. I am worried about idiocy virus which affects the sheep and Sheppard. Twitter is full of it.

You would expect that with masks and social distancing that restrictions should have been relaxed further by know. It seems bloody rediculous and so the ongoing damage to business and employment continues. fuckoffdan

That won't be until jan, it's bullshit

More BS from the Danaroid !

Disappointingly? It’s insanity.

It’s ridiculous! There surely could be more easing by now in regional Vic. Or do they have no confidence in the ‘ring of steel’?

Get the small towns open

Another pathetic, controlling, dictatorial decision by DanielAndrewsMP .

He'd be more disappointed if he caught Covid-19 himself and died from it.

Former Victorian top cop raises concerns over Andrews' omnibus bill | Sky News AustraliaFormer Victoria Police chief commissioner Kel Glare has criticised Premier Daniel Andrews’ proposed new powers as a “dangerous grab for unfettered power”. \n\nThe omnibus bill – which is currently before Victoria’s upper house – would grant the state government extraordinary powers to appoint anyone as an authorised officer, which would allow them to arrest anyone they suspect of breaching the chief health officer’s orders. \n\nMr Glare says the move is without just cause as the state’s coronavirus caseload continues to drop, and he is concerned over the vetting process of the officers following Melbourne’s bungled hotel quarantine program. \n\nFormer deputy police commissioner Noel Newman has joined Mr Glare in his criticism of the bill. \n\nThe Victorian government faces an uphill battle in the upper house – where Labor does not hold a majority – and will be forced to rely heavily on key crossbenchers. \n\nThe state recorded two new coronavirus deaths overnight with only seven new infections, marking the second time since mid-June that Victoria reported fewer than 10 cases. Chief health officer rejects lifting mask restrictions during regional Victoria heatwave | Sky News AustraliaChief Health Officer Professor Brett Sutton has rejected the possibility of restrictions around mask-wearing being lifted in parts of regional Victoria despite Mildura expecting a heatwave over the weekend.\n\n'Masks make the difference between a super-spreading event and potentially infecting no-one at all,' he said.\n\n'When you're not wearing a mask, the ability to spread the virus to anyone around you is much, much greater. So, that's a setting that we think is really important now. We will review it over time.\n\n'As these numbers are driven down... we have seen a halving of the number of cases of unknown origin, we have seen halving of the number of active cases. So, it's totally heading in the right direction.'\n\nMr Sutton said the settings 'should change' over time but claimed 'if there was a seeding' the possibility of a cluster that becomes an outbreak that becomes explosive numbers was a really 'high stakes game'.\n\nThe mercury was tipped to hit the mid-thirties in Mildura on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.\n\n It’ll take an old lady keeling over from heat exhaustion and still they’ll dig in Its no longer about the virus, its some hidden Agenda Our Asian neighbours have endured a hot & humid 6+ months of summer weather wearing face masks. The dry Australian heat in Victoria is nowhere near as bad as the hot & humid climate in Asia.

Teacher jailed for sex with 14-year-old girl before KFC shiftA physical education teacher has been jailed for five years after pleading guilty to having sex with his 14-year-old student before she started shifts at a regional Victorian KFC. Beasts are around in Australia Keep Safe! Why is there so much of this going on?! I'm not excusing anyone's behaviour, but would a female teacher have been given the same sentence? I'm kind of doubting it GenderEqualityWhenItSuits
