Former speaker of the house Bronwyn Bishop says shutting people in aged care homes off from their loved ones is a “dreadful thing to do to them in terms of anguish and mental health”.

Her comments come after the release of a report by the Royal Commission on the federal government’s handling of the COVID-19 crisis. “These are people who are in residential aged care homes, that is their home,” Ms Bishop said.

“These people deserve to have dignity and to have respect from the people they work with. “And shutting them off from their loved ones and people who would come and visit them is really a dreadful thing to do for them in terms of anguish, and mental health for them.”

Same as shutting the borders and cutting partners and families off from seeing one another for months on end.

Thanks Bronwyn for pointing out that the international borders where all Australian infections came through and aged care where most Australians have died are a Federal Government responsibility and their decisions.

Victoria only testing aged care workers nine months into pandemic is 'unbelievable' | Sky News AustraliaThe Institute of Public Affairs’ Daniel Wild says the Victorian government only introducing testing of aged care workers nine months into the pandemic is “unbelievable” and gets to the “failure and ineptitude” of the Andrew’s government.\n\nThe Victorian government announced on Wednesday it will roll out a mass asymptomatic testing program which will see 100 per cent of public aged care workers tested every two weeks moving forward. \n\nThe Commonwealth government will also conduct the same testing regime on private aged care workers.\n\n“It’s unbelievable and it gets to the catastrophic failure and ineptitude of the Andrew’s government in the handling of the coronavirus,' Mr Wilde told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.\n\n“This comes on top of, of course, the failed hotel quarantine, on top of the failure to accept assistance and help from Australian Defence Force, it comes on top of a potentially unlawful decision of Victoria police not to enforce the lockdown measures on Black Lives Matter protestors.\n\n“It comes on top of the potentially unlawful arrest of mother of two, Zoe Buhler, and it comes on top of the 700,000 jobs that are likely to be destroyed in Victoria by the lockdown measures, which is some 20 per cent of Victoria’s workforce.”\n Oh but don't tell them that aged health care is a federal obligation and responsibilities.... ‘Will you shut up man’: Trump and Biden get personal in first debate | Sky News AustraliaThe first US presidential debate has quickly turned ugly with Joe Biden asking Donald Trump to “shut up man”.\n\nPresident Trump tried to command the stage from the beginning of the debate by interrupting his rival to make his point clear. \n\nPresident Trump claimed Biden will capitulate to the Left of his party on healthcare, arguing 'Joe, you agreed with Bernie Sanders, who is far left, on the manifesto, we call it, and that gives you socialised medicine'.\n\n'Look, hey. I'm not going to listen to him. The fact of the matter is, I beat Bernie Sanders,' Biden said.\n\nBiden however lost his patience with the president after being repeatedly interrupted by him during Tuesday night’s debate.\n\n“Would you shut up, man?” the former vice president told Trump.\n\nBiden then claimed the debate-which was only 20 minutes in- was “so un-presidential”.\n\n'That was a productive segment, wasn't it? Keep yapping man.'\n\nHillary Clinton has even taken to Twitter to admit she would have loved to tell Donald Trump to “shut up” in her 2016 debate against the president.\n\n “Will you shut up, man' is the line of the night. I feel so sorry for Hillary right now because I’m positive she wanted to say that and couldn’t,” Tweeted Jill Filipovic.\n\nMs Clinton responded saying “you have no idea”.\n JoeBiden realDonaldTrump Neither of them is a proper statesman.
