A disabled Melbourne boy whose request for an electric wheelchair was held up by bureaucratic red tape for two years, will finally receive funding for a new one.

to dispute Prime Minister Scott Morrison's declaration that"every demand" for the National Disability Insurance Scheme was"fully funded".

But on Friday afternoon, the National Disability Insurance Agency contacted the Anderson family to agree to the funding request. Ms Anderson said the family was"overjoyed" and expected the new wheelchair, which will cost about $40,000, to be delivered in about 12 weeks. They were then told to try the NDIS when it was rolled out in western Melbourne and waited a further six months for an answer."We're really lucky that when we're dealing with these sorts of agencies, at least we have the benefit of being able to have English as our first language.

Jordonsteele criprights NDIS processes are systemically a fundamental breach of human rights.

Wheelchairs do not find people. They provide freedom.

The whole NDIS process, even once funding is approved to get special need equipment, chairs and so on is quite deplorable. We have a 9 yo who is about to request several things via his fund but already told the wait for the equipment will be VERY LONG. Bottleneck-NDIS processing

Family left frustrated by NDIS after two-year wait for wheelchairElias Anderson is going to watch his beloved Western Bulldogs this weekend, but he won't be able to see the players because of his old and broken wheelchair. Won’t be long til a resolution now I imagine. An acquaintance of mine had to wait so long for approvals for a wheelchair by the time they built it she had deterorated to the point she needed a new design and so it began all over again .. three built and unsuitable unused chairs later .. she died Its been two years, can't the family afford a wheel chair? WHY is it 'someone else's' 'The Government''s primary responsibility to care for a member of the family? Isn't it first and foremost the responsibility of the family? Just asking.
