In 2018, after a 20-year campaign by me and many others, the NSW Liberal Party changed its preselection processes to make them more democratic.
Liberal senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells fought for years for a change to preselection processes in NSW.The new system, endorsed after a grassroots push predominantly led by conservatives in NSW, introduced plebiscites so that members could have a direct say on who is preselected.
