MORNING BRIEFING: Police question five people they intercepted leaving an alleged home invasion in Liverpool, while Liberal MP Catherine Cusack says her party must not repeat past mistakes by approving the expansion of a coal mine near the Blue Mountains.

Five people have been arrested over a home invasion in Sydney's south west.

Ms Cusack has echoed the Nature Conservation Council's calls to grant state conservation status to almost 40,000 hectares of land near Lithgow. Both men — aged in their 50s and 70s — suffered blood clots and died in hospital after being administered the vaccine. Police allege the car was spotted at Shellharbour yesterday, after being stolen from the dealership at Nowra on Wednesday.

A 31-year-old man and 19-year-old woman were arrested in a backyard at Berkeley after stopping and running from the car.Summer Hill MP Jo Haylen, local resident Louise and Canterbury MP Sophie Cotsis at the Cooks River. Shadow Minister for active transport, Jo Haylen, called on Environment Minister Matt Kean to immediately explore all alternative options to maintain the pipeline without destroying vegetation.
