Queensland is bracing for a week of bushfires for much of the state as water shortages, unusual fire behaviour, and westerly, dry winds make for a trifecta of fire danger.

QFES Acting Assistant Commissioner Megan Stiffler said fire conditions are “unprecedented” due to the extremely dry

conditions. “Conditions are very severe,” she said. “We’ve got fires behaving in ways we haven't seen before because it's so dry.”
