The airline’s domestic and international chief executive, Andrew David, acknowledged that Qantas had been plagued by problems as it recovered from the Covid-19 lockdown period. A spokesperson said the airline was committed to improving its services: “We’ve been clear that our operational performance has not been meeting our customers’ expectations or the standards that we expect of ourselves – and that we’ve been pulling out all stops to improve our performance.
“As we have done in the past during busy periods, around 200 head office staff have helped at airports during peak travel periods since Easter. “While we manage the impacts of a record flu season and ongoing COVID cases coupled with the tightest labour market in decades, we’re continuing that contingency planning across our airport operations for the next three months.”
All those executives cheered and clapped when Joyce sacked all the baggage handlers I bet. Now look at them
ngl - don't hate this. Will address temp staff shortages, allow execs to see the consequences of their decisions (ie: outsourcing) and appreciate the importance of the work that ALL staff perform. Need to extend to the customer service line so they hear feedback from customers
Cant see that happening
Joyce should lead by example since he caused this.
Scum bag infiltrator running Qantus security breaches....
I will be sure to take a photo of an executive baggage handling if i see one. I urge everyone else to get photographic evidence as well.
I would like Alan to carry mine please
There's a problem if they a) have sufficient executives to make a meaningful difference in baggage handling b) their absence isn't noticed in head office while they're off cosplaying as baggage handlers
All except for Alan Joyce because he only makes decisions that affect everyone else, never gets his hands dirty, and never ever takes a pay cut
🤣 Executives will actually have to do a days work.
Alan Joyce loves nothing better than to handle men's bags
With what they're paid, it's not really 'volunteering' is it? Also... Does this set a precedent? Should pay be like-for-like based upon the tasks performed? Would that mean handlers' pay goes up, or managers' pay goes down? Qantas
Virgin has executives helping out in the airport too. I think most airline staff have training for it.
😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳
I wonder how many of the sacked handlers are available for immediate start...
